Policy Types

The days of "one size fits all" crop hail policies are long past. You may need a standalone policy, a full-coverage policy, or a crop hail policy using a variety of RCIS deductible programs. RCIS also has companion crop hail policies designed to protect the uninsured portion of your Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI). RCIS and your local RCIS agent are committed to helping you manage your risk through affordable crop hail programs.

Optional Endorsements

Many RCIS crop hail programs offer optional endorsements that will further enhance your crop hail program by providing coverage against specific perils. Your local RCIS agent can explain the optional endorsements available for your crops and help you tailor your crop hail coverage to your risk management needs.

Named Peril

Skip Information About Named Peril

RCIS offers flexible coverage designed to protect crops from damaging weather conditions and other perils during specified coverage periods. These named peril products are recommended as supplements to a Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) policy, a crop hail policy or as a standalone policy. Named peril policies are designed to cover gaps in other coverages, such as hazards unique to specific crops, unavailability of MPCI programs or crop hail coverage in your area, and citrus processor coverage.

Supplemental or "Attached" Named Peril Products

Skip Information About Supplemental or "Attached" Named Peril Products

Must be purchased in combination with a Multi-Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) policy. RCIS offers three supplemental policies that are designed to enhance your underlying RCIS MPCI policy. These products provide increased protection above that offered under the multi-peril coverage in certain states on selected crops.

GRIP and GRP Replant Option (GRRP)

GRRP is a supplement that provides simple replanting reimbursement coverage to GRIP and GRP corn and soybean insureds in select states. As the underlying plans of insurance do not offer any replanting coverage, this is a significant benefit to many producers.

Replant Option (RO)

The Replant Option is a supplement available on select APH, CRC, and RA crops in select states. In the event of a MPCI replant indemnity, the insured receives an additional payment from the Replant Option policy. For select crops, this policy also covers replant costs on smaller acreages than are covered under MPCI.

Products are available in select states only. Many products require you to have an active MPCI policy with RCIS for the crop in the county. Please contact your local RCIS agent for details on state and crop availability.

Contingent Business Interruption

Protects citrus processors and packers from lost income due to a shortage of fruit to process when the shortage is caused by insured perils (California only).

Citrus Freeze

Covers most citrus varieties from damage due to freeze (California only).

Crop Fire

Provides coverage for direct losses caused by fire and lightning before harvest and while the crop is still in the harvester. In most states, the policy coverage includes payment of up to $250 for the fire department service charge.

Dry Bean Rain

Protects dry bean crops from physical damage from the time the bean plants are mechanically cut for drying until actual harvest pick-up occurs (California only).

ELS Cotton

Protects first-picked ELS cotton (a.k.a. pima cotton) against reduction in grade as a direct result of damage caused by measurable rainfall during the insurance period that results in a quality grade less than USDA No. 2 (California only).

Grape Freeze

Freeze damage to grape clusters is defined as death of the inflorescence or formed berry clusters. Damage must occur after at least 5 leaves have unfolded and inflorescence is clearly visible before the beginning of berry ripening (California only).

Harvest/Stored Tobacco

Covers tobacco after it has been harvested and during the time of storage in the tobacco barn. Transit coverage to the auction market as outlined in the policy provisions is also provided. All acres of insurable tobacco grown by the applicant must be covered under this policy (Kentucky and Tennessee only).

Mobile Tobacco Bulk Curing Barns

Covers specified damage to curing barns, shelters, and hoists (Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia only).

Raisin Drying on the Vine

Reimburses growers for the excess expense of dehydrating directly due to rainfall while on vines in the insured vineyard during the insurance period. Does not insure against lost production or a decrease in the value of the raisins. Producers must insure all eligible acreage of sun-dried raisin tonnage in the county in which they have a share. Covers only grapes grown using the Open Gable, Southside, or Overhead Trellis systems for the purpose of producing "dried on the vine" raisins (California only).

Raisin Reconditioning

Reimburses growers for excess expenses of slipping, additional turning, additional rolling/unrolling, and/or reconditioning due to direct rain on the raisins while they are on trays in the insured’s vineyard during the insurance period. Does not insure against lost production or a decrease in the value of the raisins. All sun-dried raisin tonnage in the county in which the insured has an interest must be insured. All typical raisin grape varieties are insurable except Zante currants and any grapes that had table grape cultural practices applied (California only).

Tomato Rain

Covers losses caused by the development of mold or rot or the inability to harvest processing tomato crops due to excessive rain (California only).

Winterkill and Snow Mold

The Replant Option is a supplement available on select APH, CRC, and RA crops in select states. In the event of a MPCI replant indemnity, the insured receives an additional payment from the Replant Option policy. For select crops, this policy also covers replant costs on smaller acreages than are covered under MPCI.
